Fort William is more than the home of Ben Nevis, it is the biggest town in the west Highlands between Glasgow and Inverness and is a great place to stay when exploring the Highlands and Western Islands!

Ben Nevis is Britains highest mountain standing a proud 4,409 feet above sea level. It attracts over 120,000 climbers a year, but don’t be put off by the scale! Other more manageable and remarkably beautiful walks can also be achieved in Glen Nevis, famous for its many film locations and the Glen Nevis River Race, taking in the breath taking beauty of Steall Falls (know as the wedding veil).
The Nevis Range offers a range of activities to keep individuals and families occupied. Take the Gondola up to Aonoch Mor mountain and enjoy some amazing walks and views. Some of the attractions on offer at the Nevis Range are: Mountain biking and the UK World Trial SPEA FIM championships in July, there is High Wire Adventure and Ceilidh nights to enjoy. Even in the winter there is adventure to be had on the ski slopes and open all year round is the Pinemarten café & bar and the Snowgoose restaurant & bar where you can enjoy the most stunning views at approx 2,000 feet while relaxing with refreshments. Check out the Undiscovered Scotland Website to find out more about The Caledonian Canal and Neptune’s Staircase, where you can view boats lined up for over 500 yards awaiting their turn to be raised 70ft above sea level to sail through the eights lochs that connect Loch Linnhe with the freshwater lochs of the Great Glen, Loch Lochy, Loch Oich and the famous Loch Ness. All these lochs are within a 45 minute drive from Fort William and Braeside House.
WALKING - some of the most beautiful trails for all ages and abilities can be found in Fort William and the Lochaber area. For the more adventurous, Fort William marks the end and the beginning of two of the most famous walks in the UK which attract challengers from all over the world.
